A brand new year! All the best in 2009

Dear readers,

I understand this post is about seven days late for a New Year's post, but I just wanted to make one anyway.

So, that's it, 2008 is over and it is a brand new year which will hopefully bring a lot of new exciting things in each and everyone's life.

First off, let me start by wishing everyone a very happy new year and I hope the holidays were exquisite for each and everyone of you.

My holiday was made of awesome, it started on the 22nd of december and ended on the 5th of January. A fairly nice break I would say, I have nothing to complain about since I did not have to work in between christmas and new years as some people have to. I feel very lucky to be blessed with such a nice longish holiday break.

The first half of my holiday break was spent at my parents in Mont-Carmel, ok I know most people wouldn't have a clue where it is , let's just say about 20-25 minutes to Trois-Rivieres. I drove on the 23rd of december, the perfect day for driving as the 22nd and the 24th weren't supposed to be so good weather-wise.

I went for breakfast the morning of the 23rd with my boyfriend's family has it was his mom's birthday and then we left around 10:00 am for a 4 hour drive (31/2 to 4 hours depending on traffic).

I wish I could have done more outdoor things during my break but the weather wasn't the greatest, I planned to go skating but it got so warm that the ice wouldn't have been in the best of condition and then we got some freezing rain which wasn't the best for driving anywhere, though I could have gotten my skates and skated right there in the street. ;)

On christmas eve, as it is a tradition, I went to midnight mass. Mind you I don't really go and listen to what the priest say very much, I am not much for being a sheep and being told do this and don't do that when you hear priests not even do what they preach. I mainly like to go because I hope it will snow, big snowflakes, and it kind of makes it magical like when I was little. Unfortunately I did not get my wish this year as all it did was rain (freezing rain of all things) due to this global warming effect.

We came back home and had a little christmas eve lunch while we opened presents. I got a Wii console and DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) YAY! Ok I mentioned to my mom and since I am an only child I guess I kind of suspected I might get it. ;) Also got the set of tennis racket, baseball bat, golf club that we use with Wii sports. Got a pj from my favourite store (Garage) from my boyfriend and the complete twilight saga books (4). I guess I was spoiled this christmas.

Also another present was that I went to Quebec city to see the circus for the 400th anniversary of Quebec city.I showed Quebec city to my boyfriend though with the freezing rain we couldn't walk around so much, I guess we will have to go again! I got to go eat poutine at my favourite fast food place in Quebec city "Ashton", I am not big on fast food but I love this one because they have very different items on the menu that you don't see in your classic fast food place such as : McDonald, wendy's, etc.
It was great. Except that coming back after the show was, how should I say, scary! Freezing rain all over, took us around 3hours or perhaps 2 I am not sure, all I knwo is that it was a long drive, but we made it safe.

I spent christmas day, the entire day in my pj playing with the Wii, Wii sports and DDR. I didn't realize it until I looked outside and it suddenly got dark. Oups!

I love the Wii!

Anyways on december 29th, my boyfriend's birthday, we drove back to Ottawa. After I dropped off my cat at my place and emptied my bag and just put some stuff in the smallest bag because I was staying at his parent's place for the remaining days left of my holiday. We went to his place and went to Moxie's for dinner, his birthday dinner) kind of like a tradition with them they pick a restaurant to go to on their birthday.

When we came back from the restaurant we had another christmas day and opened presents with them. he got his playstation 3. I got some presents too like a tim burton bag, well not really tim burton but I say that becasue it is black and white stripes and if you are familiar with tim urton's work you would know that he uses black and white stripes a lot in his movies, I love the bag a lot and as soon as I opened I put the second book of the twilight saga (new moon) in it, it fit perfectly. I got a watch from Garage clothing store, good timing too since my other watch wasn't working anymore, I love it how could I not it says garage on it! LOL

But by far the best present was the Wii Fit, WOW! I jumped up when I opened and gave each of his parent a hug. Said a lot of Yays too, apparently I say that a lot.

I haven't had a chance to try the Wii fit since I kind of need to remove my christmas village and christmas tree to make room in my apartment and lately I have been absorbed by "New Moon" Almost done reading it only three chapters to go plus the epilogue, I think I may finish tonight. It started slow but the more I got in the story the least I want to put the book down.

I wouldn't say it is better than JK Rowling's Harry Potter, I would never ever say this since I love the harry potter serie to pieces but the twilight saga is quite good as well.

On one of the days I was over at my boyfriend's family's house, one morning that I drove to my place to feed my cat, I took a walk downtown and kind of made two sontaneous book purchase that I had been eyeing for a long time: Tales of beedle the bard by JK Rowling and Harry a history by melissa anelli... I know I am bad, people need to chain me when I passed by a bookstore. lol

I read the tales of beedle the bard in only a couple hours, mind youit is a very tiny book but for me that is a record, I can be a slow reader sometimes. And already started Harry a history, yes at the same time as I am reading New Moon, I always start more than one book at a time, with the result that sometimes I do need to read the book again from the start because if I wait too long I forget what I read, hehe.

My New Year's Eve was spent at my boyfriend's Uncle's place in Vars. New years party, casino night but not with real money, thank god, it was only monopoly money and I was afraid to lose it, I really am not a gambler.! lol
The party was quite fun and on New Years day his mom invited some of his aunt and uncles for a new years day party and we all played Wii games, I love the bowling game, I was the best! And played some family feud dvd game and the price is right on Wii.

The other days were quieter, just time to relax before getting back to work.

All in all my holiday was great!

Since it is the New Year, I thought about resolutions and I don't think I like the idea of taking new years resolution, people always take resolution and never end up keeping them so I prefer to just say in this new year I will try to be more creative, drawing and painting more, practice some guitar, exercise and just try to enjoy life in general.

No sense in saying I HAVE or MUST do this by the end of the year, and force oneself to do this or that, the whole point of enjoying life and the things you love is that it is supposed to be fun, if it becomes a chore, it isn't fun anymore and the first thing you noticed is that you stop doing the things you enjoy.

Ok that is it for now!

Wishing all of you the best in 2009!

Later,
SweetGirl
